Award-winning producer CJTheChemist wrapped up 2025 with a bang as his single NY Girls, featuring dancehall frontrunner Chronic Law, landed in Audiomack’s Top 10 “Best Of The Year” across seven Caribbean markets. The track ranked No. 4 in Antigua and Barbuda and Belize, No. 7 in Jamaica and Saint Lucia, No. 8 in Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana, and No. 9 in Barbados. The annual showcase, curated by Audiomack, celebrates songs with significant cultural impact, highlighting community-driven trends rather than algorithmic metrics.
Closing the year with this level of regional success came as a pleasant surprise for CJTheChemist. “Honestly, it really clicked once I started seeing the reaction outside of just our immediate circle. When DJs were spinning it without us pushing, and people who didn’t even know the backstory were quoting lyrics back to me—that’s when I knew it had crossed from being a moment to becoming a movement,” CJTheChemist told Prism Marketing Consultants.
The track’s success has also paved the way for major collaborations. CJTheChemist revealed he secured Bronx rapper French Montana for the official NY Girls remix, calling him “the OG” and confirmed that his verse headlined the NY Girls Riddim album. Since its May release, the original song’s borough-by-borough ode to Caribbean women in New York resonated globally, drawing artists like Armanii, Valiant, Yaksta, Shaneil Muir, Kraff Gad, and Bayka to jump on the riddim. CJTheChemist explained, “I wanted somebody from New York… He reached out, and I accepted. It’s a big move.”
Beyond music, NY Girls has left its mark on fashion. Chronic Law and CJTheChemist’s visuals and stage presence boosted demand for brands like New York-based God Speed and Vaunter, which saw sales and local recognition spike following the track’s release. As a Half-Way-Tree retailer put it, “Di youths dem been asking for di God Speed shirt dem, so we haffi start carry dem.” The influence underscores dancehall’s long-standing role in shaping style trends, echoing moments like Vybz Kartel’s Clarks craze and summer’s viral orange handkerchief.
With multiple albums in the works under his Chemist Presents series and high-profile collaborations with Pablo YG, Dre Island, Dejor, and Dexta Daps, CJTheChemist is positioning 2026 to be even bigger. “NY Girls set a new standard for me creatively. Moving forward, I’m focused on building records and visuals that feel intentional—not chasing trends, but creating moments that live beyond a release date,” he said. Clearly, for CJTheChemist, the year-end accolades are just the beginning of a global journey that bridges Caribbean authenticity with mainstream music and culture.
