Jamaican singer Christopher Martin is counting his blessings after an unfortunate accident during a performance at the Radisson Blu in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he fell through a section of the stage and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. The incident unfolded early Saturday as he performed for an exuberant audience at the country’s first-ever One Nation Reggae Festival, prompting immediate concern both at the venue and across social media.

According to eyewitnesses, Martin was delivering one of his high-energy sets when part of the staging unexpectedly collapsed beneath him. Security and crew members quickly intervened, helping the visibly shaken and limping artiste offstage before he was transported to the hospital. Doctors conducted X-rays to rule out fractures or more serious injuries, and organisers later confirmed he was “doing much better,” easing fears surrounding the singer’s condition.

In a heartfelt Instagram update, Martin addressed fans directly, posting a clip of the moment before the accident. “Giving thanks for life every single day,” he wrote, explaining that unforeseen technical issues caused the fall but reassuring supporters that he was recovering well. He also extended gratitude to Sierra Leone’s Minister of Tourism and her team for their swift assistance, and noted how the country’s warmth helped lift his spirits: “To the people of Sierra Leone, your energy and love lifted me right back up.”

The comment section was flooded with messages of support from across the reggae and dancehall community. Romain Virgo told him, “Jah Guide Bredda!”, while Alaine added, “So glad you’re ok my brother… trusting God with your complete healing.” Cecile, ZJ Chrome, Bling Dawg, I-Octane, Shuga, and Kevyn from Voicemail were among the many offering words of comfort.

The incident comes just weeks after Martin was initially announced as one of the headline acts for Sierra Leone’s first-ever One Nation Reggae Festival, which unfolded on November 25–30.
