Fresh off his commendable performance at Alkaline’s New Rules Festival in Trelawny last month, dancehall sensation Intence is keeping the momentum going with the release of his latest project, Sólo Chicas. Released on Friday, August 8 via VP Records, the six-track EP is a vibrant, female-focused offering that blends desire, heartbreak, and unapologetic flirtation. Tailored for the ladies, it builds on the swagger of his 2024 offering SHH with a loose sequel, B.P.P.E., a high-energy celebration of women that doubles down on the blunt charm that has become his signature.

The project also ventures into different shades of romance and relationships. Tracks like Missing You tap into heartbreak, while Right Now delivers an icy goodbye, and Don’t It offers melodic infatuation. The closer, Sordid—the only track not produced by Nuh Brakes Recordz, his father and long-time collaborator—adds a raw, sensual edge courtesy of Dishawn “Speck” Spragg. To amplify the drop, Intence simultaneously rolled out music videos for B.P.P.E. and Don’t It, ensuring the project lands with a strong visual presence.

This new release comes just months after Intence turned heads in the U.K. during a candid appearance on Stand Out TV’s hit dating series Grillin’. Known for putting guests in the hot seat, the show’s host Michelle Bingley challenged the “Yahoo Boyz” hitmaker with playful banter and probing questions. Intence revealed that despite his larger-than-life persona, he isn’t an avid dater and prefers to keep his focus on music. His candid admission that he “can’t cook” prompted a flirtatious response from Bingley, who teased, “I can—and would—for you if we were dating.”

The conversation didn’t shy away from controversy. Intence’s views on relationships—preferring a traditional setup where he provides financially but expects his partner to follow his rules—sparked lively debate online. His statement that “man and woman cannot be friends—something always inna something” especially stirred discussion, as did his take on boundaries around strip clubs. Still, he kept the mood light, ending the episode with an exclusive freestyle that impressed Bingley enough to score their exchange a solid 7.5 out of 10.

With Sólo Chicas, Intence affirms his versatility, balancing provocative lyrical confidence with moments of vulnerability. From impacting festival stages in Jamaica to navigating the heat of a viral talk show in London, he continues to prove he’s one of dancehall’s most watchable figures—both for the music he makes and the unfiltered opinions he’s never afraid to share.
