Grammy award-winning producer Ainsley ‘Notnice’ Morris is stirring excitement in the dancehall diaspora once again with news of a long-awaited reunion with fellow Gaza alumnus Popcaan. The two hitmakers have joined forces for their new single Lifestyle Moment, marking their first official collaboration in nearly six years. The track, set for release this Friday, June 27 via all major digital platforms with distribution courtesy of One RPM, is already generating buzz as fans anticipate the chemistry that made their past work so memorable.
Their last joint effort dates back to August 2019 on Notnice’s Billboard-charting debut album Kyng Midas, where Popcaan delivered the soulful New Found Love, a cover of Garnet Silk’s beloved classic Place In Your Heart. Notnice reflects on their recent studio session with ease, sharing that despite the lengthy gap, reconnecting with Popcaan felt natural. “It was like a regular day,” he said, recollecting their time in the Gaza collective and hinting that this is just the beginning of more projects to come between the two. “Nothing don’t happen before the right time! So I guess that time is now.”
The timing couldn’t be more fitting as Notnice recently revealed he’s officially back in album mode, working on Kyng Midas 2.0, the highly anticipated follow-up to his 2019 debut. Fresh off being honoured at the Wray & Nephew Super Finals at Jamaica’s National Stadium for his significant contributions to dancehall music, the producer says the recognition has reignited his creative energy. “It’s a significant achievement,” he told Prism Marketing Consultants, calling the honour a major confidence booster for this next chapter.
While details surrounding Kyng Midas 2.0 remain tightly under wraps, Notnice promises big surprises and features from both dancehall and reggae royalty. At the same time, he’s also pushing his protégé under the Notice Records banner—including rising singer Nordia Mothersille and dancehall sensation Jah Vinci—signalling a full-circle moment as the seasoned producer balances legacy projects with nurturing the next generation of stars.
