Renowned Dancehall artiste and former member of the iconic Scare Dem Crew, Nitty Kutchie, is on the road to recovery after suffering a minor heart attack that landed him in the hospital. The entertainer, known for his energetic stage presence and enduring influence on the genre, is now reflecting deeply on life’s fragility and the importance of health after what he describes as a life-altering scare.
Despite maintaining an active lifestyle that includes regular exercise, Kutchie revealed that his health crisis was triggered by a simple yet dangerous oversight — not drinking enough water and not getting sufficient rest. “God saved me, God gave me another chance. God is the greatest! And as of today, water is my best friend,” the artist shared from his hospital bed at Andrews Memorial Hospital, where he remains under careful observation. He credits the quick actions of his colleagues, who tried to cool and hydrate him with coconut water, and the medical expertise of Dr. Campbell and his team for saving his life.
Grateful for the overwhelming support, Kutchie extended heartfelt thanks to his family, friends, and fans, as well as fellow entertainers such as Buju Banton, Bling Dawg, Bugle, Popcaan, Sizzla Kalonji, and Shabba Ranks, who reached out during his ordeal.
Even while recuperating, the veteran artiste remains focused on his music, actively promoting his latest single, “Lord I Thank You” — a fitting collaboration with reggae legend Buju Banton and produced by Richie Stephens‘ Pot of Gold Productions. The song now carries even deeper meaning for Kutchie, who has been given what he calls “another chance” at life.
