Dancehall fans across the Mediterranean Sea were eagerly anticipating a performance by Jamaican star Demarco in Israel. However, the promoters have postponed the much-anticipated event, scheduled for May 16 in Haifa, the country’s third largest city, due to the escalating tensions in the Middle East. This decision stems from the ongoing conflict between Israel and its Palestinian neighbours, which has resulted in heightened travel risks and safety concerns.
In light of the postponement, Demarco issued a statement expressing his support for the decision and emphasizing the importance of prioritizing people’s safety above all else. Stating, “I believe postponing the event is the best decision at this time, as we all know there is a lot happening in the Middle East. People’s lives and their safety have to be the first priority, and I pray that peace will return to the region soon.”
The dancehall hitmaker also addressed the broader geopolitical situation, acknowledging the reports of conflict between Israel and Iran. He emphasized the need for peaceful resolutions, stating, “What is happening over there is unfortunate. War is never the answer, so hopefully those in charge can come to a resolution soon.”
Despite the setback, Demarco remains active in his musical pursuits, with upcoming engagements in French Guiana and Florida on the horizon. Additionally, he continues to promote his latest singles, including “Fireball,” a collaboration with Tommy Lee Sparta, and the newly released track “White Sugar Look Like Salt,” produced by True Gift Entertainment and CashFlow Records.
While some fans may be disappointed by the postponement of Demarco’s concert in Israel, others have applauded his commitment to safety, and his messages of peace resonate deeply in a world plagued by conflict.
