Sting’s much-anticipated 2023 edition, slated for Boxing Day (December 26), has been officially launched, marking its return to the iconic venue, Jamworld, in Portmore, as it commemorates its 40th anniversary. Promising an unforgettable experience, organizers pledge “electrifying performances, pulsating beats, and an atmosphere that will leave fans craving more.”
The star-studded ’10 Giants’ lineup includes Bounty Killer, Tommy Lee Sparta, Tanya Stephens, Macka Diamond, and reggae luminaries Anthony B, Spragga Benz, Turbulence, Capleton, Fantan Mojah, and Bugle. Fresh from outstanding New York and Connecticut showcases, Bugle expresses optimism for this year’s showcase, stating,
“It’s good to see the return of Sting and the effort being made to reignite the glory days of one of the biggest local showcases. I am truly optimistic about what will unfold on Boxing Day.”
Anthony B, who made his Sting debut 28 years ago, shares his delight at returning, emphasizing the significance of the event in his career’s evolution.
“I am honoured to be part of this legendary event. I received my first major breakthrough at this show in 1995 when I performed Fire Pon Rome, earning recognition as the best performer of Sting 95. Portmore is my home, and from leaving my birth land parish of Trelawny, I have evolved into the artist I am today.”
In keeping with tradition, organizers will showcase new and emerging talent in the dancehall and reggae scene. The event will also feature major acts such as Intense, General B, Admiral Bailey, Lady G, and I Waata, among others.
Sting has held the crown for four decades as the premier destination for reggae and dancehall enthusiasts worldwide. As the much-anticipated milestone celebration approaches later this month, the anticipation for a memorable showcase of reggae and dancehall music is palpable.
