Billboard Top 40 sensation and South African songstress Tyla continues to make waves by earning a Best New Artist nomination at the prestigious 2023 BET Soul Train Awards.

This exciting revelation came just a day after Tyla posted a cryptic message on her Twitter handle, previously known as X, declaring her presence in Jamaica. This intriguing announcement has set the global music scene abuzz with anticipation, as fans worldwide eagerly await the possibility of new musical creations from the talented artist.

Tyla, whose chart-topping hit “Water” has secured the coveted No. 1 spot on the Billboard Afrobeats Chart, took to social media to simply utter the word “Jamaica,” accompanied by two captivating studio images and another from an undisclosed beach on the island. In the highly competitive category of Best New Artist, Tyla shares the spotlight with other gifted nominees like Ambre, Ayra Starr, Coco Jones, Doechii, Flo, Fridayy, and Wanmor.

The illustrious BET Soul Train Awards have also recognized Ciara this year with three nominations. These include the Certified Soul Award and Best Dance Performance for her tracks “Better Thangs” with Summer Walker and “How We Roll” with Chris Brown. Notably, artists like SZA, Usher, and Summer Walker lead the pack with nine nominations each. The forthcoming awards show will be recorded at a yet-to-be-disclosed location in the enchanting city of Los Angeles. BET promises to transform the conventional award ceremony into a soulful celebration in Hollywood. Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 26, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, as this remarkable event unfolds on BET and BET Her.

Standing tall in the nominations tally are the talented 21 Savage, with an impressive eight nods, and the dynamic duo of Coco Jones and Victoria Monét, who share a remarkable six nominations. Joining the ranks of four-time nominees are Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Janelle Monáe, and October London, all of whom have made a significant impact on the music industry.

In particular, Burna Boy has captured the spotlight with nominations in categories including Album of the Year, Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, Best Collaboration, and The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award, underscoring his exceptional contribution to the world of music. The 2023 BET Soul Train Awards promise to be a dazzling celebration of musical excellence, with an array of talented artists vying for recognition in various categories, and the enchanting backdrop of Jamaica adds an extra layer of allure to this prestigious event.
