On Monday afternoon, dancehall star Popcaan unveiled the artist lineup and venue for the highly anticipated 2023 edition of Unruly Fest, scheduled for December 22 at Roselle in Morant Bay, St. Thomas.
The confirmed acts include St. Thomas native Skillibeng, the rapidly rising sensation Najeeriii, conscious crooner I-Wayne, and American rapper Fivio Foreign. Additionally, more artists are expected to be announced soon.
Over the past three years, event organizers have faced numerous challenges due to the ongoing pandemic, leading to the postponement of many events. One such event that fell victim to these circumstances was Unruly Fest, which has been on hiatus since its last staging in 2019.
However, the return of this St. Thomas-based event, known for its meteoric rise in the live stage show circuit before its abrupt halt in 2020, is generating heightened anticipation for the December showcase. In 2019, the event took place at the Good Year Oval in St. Thomas and Lyssons Park in 2018.
Unruly Fest has a reputation for its top-notch production. It has previously featured performances from a multitude of both local and international stars, including Drake, Skillibeng, Chronic Law, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, and Bugle, among others.
Popcaan’s fans had eagerly anticipated the event’s return last year. However, in 2022, the artiste encouraged patrons to support him at Burna Boy’s Love Damini world tour concert, held on December 18 at the National Stadium in Kingston.
