Dancehall icon Bounty Killer has announced that his highly anticipated album, “King of Kingston,” is facing indefinite delays due to issues with the label Ghetto Youths International.
The Warlord expressed his commitment to delivering a project that exceeds expectations, stating, “If it’s not gonna come extraordinary on the level it’s supposed to be [then] leave it alone make it gwaan stay inna the oven.” Despite this setback, Bounty Killer ensures his fans aren’t left empty-handed as he recently released the joint EP “Time Bomb” with Baby Cham and Dave Kelly. This EP, released on September 22, aims to tide fans over as they’ve patiently awaited a new album from him for over two decades.
While discussing his plans on the “State of Dancehall” podcast, Bounty also revealed his intention to release a “full-body” reggae project in the future, comprising around 15 songs. This will mark his first-ever reggae album, emphasizing his love for the genre. The artist expressed his commitment to collaborations, noting that “Collaborations will always be in my album. I’m not doing no album by myself.” On the reggae project, he hinted at notable collaborations with artists like Marcia Griffiths, Richie Stephens, Jah Vinci, and Olaf Blackwood.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to Bounty Killer reuniting with Baby Cham for another exciting project, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Madhouse Records. This EP features seven tracks, including collaborations with artists like Dexta Daps, DJ Idris Elba, and veteran producer Dave Kelly. Both Bounty Killer and Baby Cham are enthusiastic about this collaboration, with Baby Cham reflecting on his longstanding relationship with Bounty Killer and the invaluable learning experiences gained in the studio.
While “King of Kingston” may be on hold, Bounty Killer is actively engaging his audience with new music and exciting prospects in the reggae and dancehall scene.
