Sunday’s New Rules Festival, headlined by dancehall sensation Alkaline, proved to be a monumental success at the Mount Vernon Memorial Stadium in Westchester County. The event drew scores of eager concertgoers who gathered to witness their favourite stars in action.

Unfolding on September 3 in New York City, this Labour Day Weekend showcase featured a packed house and a star-studded lineup. Performers included acclaimed artists like Mavado, Charly Black, Cameroonian American Afrobeats recording artiste Libianca, and St Vincent and Grenadines soca prince Skinny Fabulous. Emerging talents such as 450, 1SkiMask, Tallup, Scrptiid, TopRo, and BillyB also graced the stage. Alkaline himself closed the evening’s festivities with a commendable set.

Alkaline’s management emphasized the significant support this event received, highlighting the artist’s enduring influence on the genre. The event in New York City mirrored Alkaline’s previous success in Kingston, Jamaica, where he drew a historic crowd in July 2022, rivalling any previous dancehall one-night festivals in the Caribbean.

Alkaline, recognized as the male face of Givenchy’s Spring-Summer 2023 men’s collection, not only showcased his extensive music catalogue but also incorporated chic-couture streetwear, capturing the essence of the city’s vibrant culture and trendy fashion intertwined with music.

Kereena Beckford, Alkaline’s manager and the event organizer, expressed her excitement about the New Rules Festival, particularly highlighting its platform for both established and emerging artists to shine. Since its inception in 2017, the festival has successfully executed four stages in New York, Florida, and Jamaica, drawing significant crowds and solidifying its reputation as a premier event in the dancehall music scene.
