The distressing news of her daughter’s disappearance has left Milicent McCurdy, the mother of Jamaican dancehall deejay Stephanie Williams, known as ‘Medikk‘, deeply troubled.
Williams, 29, who was reported missing on Thursday, was last seen dressed in a black blouse, black tights, and black shoes.
Described as having a brown complexion, a slim build, and standing at approximately 169 centimetres (five feet, seven inches) tall, Williams resides in Mayfair, Red Hills Road, St Andrew. According to reports from the Constant Spring police, she left home on Thursday afternoon and has not been sighted since.
In a tear-filled plea, McCurdy shared her concerns, mentioning that she sensed something amiss when she repeatedly tried calling her daughter on Thursday evening, to no avail. Being notably attached to her phone, Williams made the lack of response unusual. “She sleeps with her phone, she wakes up with her phone. She does everything with her phone,” McCurdy explained, highlighting their special mother-daughter bond. This is especially poignant considering McCurdy resides in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, while Williams lives in Kingston, where her career and life are centred.
McCurdy recounted a prior conversation with one of Williams’ sisters, during which Williams mentioned her upcoming video shoot in Ocho Rios, St. Ann. Her boyfriend and road manager had prompted her to prepare for the event. However, all efforts by relatives to contact her since then have proven futile. McCurdy expressed disappointment at the lack of communication from Williams’ management, Naviigator Entertainment, despite numerous attempts to gather information about the video shoot.
Presently, McCurdy and her youngest daughter are in Kingston, collaborating with the police to locate Williams. A family member noted the increasing concern as time passed, emphasising the urgency of finding her and encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
Medikk, an emerging figure on the dancehall scene, is recognised for tracks like “Boss Level” with Jahvillani and “Like Wah“. Beyond her musical pursuits, she operates a business named Rheborn Holistic, manufacturing and distributing natural hair and skincare products. Family members describe Williams as a diligent worker, fiercely independent, and deeply caring for her loved ones.
