Jamaican-born St. Kitts and Nevis-based recording artiste Byron Messia is making waves on the global music scene with his international hit “Talibans,” which recently entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the No.99 position.
This achievement marks the first time in two years that a Jamaican artist has secured a spot on the all-genre Hot 100 chart. Prior to Messia, Skillibeng attained this feat in May 2021 with the remix of his hit “Crocodile Teeth,” featuring Nicki Minaj, which peaked at No.100.
Armed with a newly minted multi-album deal from Interscope Records his success doesn’t stop there, as “Talibans” continues to climb on various Billboard charts. It has made notable progress on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Rap Airplay, and Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts. Additionally, the remix of “Talibans” featuring Afrobeats star Burna Boy debuted at No.18 on the Nigeria Hot 100 Singles chart and reached No.74 on the Irish Singles chart.
His album “No Love” is also gaining recognition, rising to No.3 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. With this impressive trajectory, Messia is now nominated in the “Best Album” category at the upcoming Caribbean Afro Music Awards (CAMA) in the U.K. The CAM Awards aim to celebrate exceptional talent in genres like Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Latin Caribbean/Reggaeton, Gospel, and Afrobeats.
Fans and music enthusiasts can cast their votes for the CAM Awards from August 1 to September 14, 2023, on the official website. The awards ceremony will be broadcast on RepDat TV on October 15, 2023, and will feature distinguished personalities from the entertainment industry, adding to its prestige.
Byron Messia’s remarkable achievements on the charts and his CAM Awards nomination reflect his talent and dedication to his craft, cementing his position as a rising star in the global music scene.
