Jamaican-born St. Kitts and Nevis-based recording artist Byron Messia is making waves in the music industry with his hit single “Talibans” and having the best year of his career.
Recently, Canadian rap superstar Drake started following Messia on Instagram, adding to the endorsement from R&B superstar Chris Brown who posted an Instagram story of the artist performing his hit single. “Talibans” has seen an uptick on streaming platforms, with over 23 million views on Youtube and securing the No.2 spot on the Apple Music Top 25 Charts in New York City. It has also reached No.8 in London and No.22 on the daily U.K. Apple Music Chart and currently occupies the No.67 spot on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart Top 100.
The song is fast becoming a strong contender for the ‘Song of the Summer’ with him gaining the support of several industry personalities, including Govana, Jada Kingdom, Popcaan, and Bobby Smurda. Messia’s success has resulted in a newly minted multi-album deal with Geffen Records, a subsidiary of Interscope Records.
Despite conflicting statements about his career on various platforms, the ongoing controversy has only served to catapult his popularity. The artist has been working tenaciously to make a name for himself and is finally carving out his own niche regionally and internationally.Â
