Dancehall luminary Boom Dandimite was laid to rest on Sunday, July 2, in a poignant funeral service held at the Penwood Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Waterhouse, St Andrew.
The artist’s transparent casket allowed mourners to bid their final farewells as they paid their respects. Notable figures from the entertainment fraternity, including Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Stacious, General B, Harry Toddler and Joe Bogdanovich of Downsounds Entertainment, were in attendance.
During the service, Harry Toddler shared heartfelt reflections on his close bond with Boom Dandimite, expressing his deep appreciation for the late artist. Bogdanovich also acknowledged Dandimite’s profound influence on his commitment to dancehall and reggae music. The loss of this inspiring talent has left a void within the industry.
Regrettably, Boom Dandimite’s, given name Donovan Stewart, passing occurred just weeks before his scheduled performance at Reggae Sumfest as part of the Boombox 90s Badness lineup alongside General B, Harry Toddler, and other esteemed artists. His absence at the highly anticipated event served as a poignant reminder of his enduring impact on the dancehall scene.
The tragic loss of Boom Dandimite, resulting from complications during his recovery from a car accident, has left the reggae and dancehall community mourning. However, his artistic contributions will be cherished, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
