At Sunday’s Great Fete Weekend held at Pigeon Point Beach, Tobago, dancehall stars Aidonia and Mavado delivered scintillating performances that left partygoers in awe. The event also featured commendable sets from emerging talents 450, Jayds, and Tanso.
However, what made the event truly special was the unexpected moment when Mavado surprised everyone by barging on stage during Aidonia’s set. With a towel thrown over his head, the Gully Gad ran to the front of the stage, shouting, “Hey mi nuh wah cuss nuh badwud,” before launching into his hit song “Top Shotta is Back.” The crowd erupted in jubilation as the two dancehall stars showed unity and exchanged pleasantries, exemplifying a musical peace initiative.
This display of unity between Aidonia and Mavado comes after a recent photo op in June that showed Aidonia and Busy Signal together at Big Yard recording studio, hinting at a possible collaboration. While a source close to Aidonia clarified that there are no immediate plans for a collaboration, they didn’t rule out the possibility for the foreseeable future, demonstrating a newfound maturity and camaraderie between former musical rivals.
The Great Fete Weekend is well-known for its five-night beach party extravaganza, featuring the best DJs, sound systems, soca music, and celebrities from Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean. This event is a fusion of local pop culture and high-energy party vibes, making it a must-go occasion for music lovers and partygoers alike.
