Renowned for his thrilling and eyebrow-raising performances, dancehall artiste Skeng and his musical ensemble, Tower Band, have once again grabbed the spotlight with their onstage antics.
During the highly publicized event, Celebrity Playground, part of the Dream Weekend party series currently underway in Negril, Jamaica, Skeng shocked partygoers while performing his popular dancehall anthem “Protocol” on Friday night. In a daring move, the drum set was doused with alcohol and set ablaze by Skeng; shockingly, the drummer, Kryss Ras, and the band remained unfazed and continued to play amidst the flames.
Despite the potentially dangerous situation, the band kept the performance under control, leaving the audience in awe. Before concluding his set, Skeng added another unexpected twist, pouring champagne into his shoe and drinking it, much to the crowd’s amusement.
As the official musical outfit for Skeng, Tower Band has grown accustomed to expecting the unexpected on stage.
“Playing a drum set while it’s on fire is a first for me. However, I never felt as though I was in any danger. Skeng is like a dancehall rockstar, so you never know what to truly expect when he’s on stage.” Band leader Kryss Ras told Prism Marketing Consultants.
Skeng’s penchant for unconventional stunts is well-known, as last September, while performing at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Trinidad, he smashed lead guitarist Cory’s U$3,000 guitar on stage. He also jumped in a swimming pool mid-performance at another event while in July at Alkaline’s New Rules Concert, drummer Kryss Ras knock over several pieces of equipment during his set.
Skeng’s hits like “London,” “Gvnman Shift,” “Protocol,” and “Likkle Miss” have solidified his reputation as an emerging dancehall rockstar, while Tower Band continues to promote their latest single, “Vincent Street,” now available on major digital and streaming platforms.
