The recent push for peace and unity within the reggae and dancehall community continues to yield positive results as more artists are putting aside their differences in an effort to create a unified entertainment fraternity.
One notable reconciliation is between sound system selector turned social media personality Foota Hype, and long-time rival Mr Lexx, effectively ending their longstanding feud. The two have been at odds for nearly two decades since their infamous brawl in 2005 at the Weddy Weddy Wednesday showcase in Kingston. The fight went viral and garnered international attention on various media platforms, including MTV.
Although the impetus behind the truce has not been ascertained, Prism Marketing Consultants understands that Foota Hype and Mr Lexx were recently photographed together during an event in New York City. Mr Lexx subsequently shared the image on his official Instagram account with a caption emphasizing unity and strength.
“#FootaHype and #MrLexx #UnityIsStrength 👊🏿” he wrote.
This gesture has been met with widespread approval from fans and industry players as a positive step in the right direction.
During an interview with local media in January, the “Full Hundred” deejay expressed his desire for a fresh start in the new year after reflecting on a challenging 2022, which included a health scare after he collapsed while performing at an event late last year, resulting in hospitalization and surgery for a collapsed lung. This incident served as a wake-up call for Mr Lexx, motivating him to seek a new chapter of positivity and growth.
The reconciliation between Foota Hype and Mr Lexx represents a significant development in the ongoing efforts to foster peace and unity within the reggae and dancehall community.
