The Mobay Crab Festival scheduled for this Saturday, May 20, at Pier 1 in Montego Bay has been postponed due to safety and weather concerns.
The organizers released a statement on Friday afternoon, citing the current State of Emergency, curfew imposed in Western Jamaica, and inclement weather as challenges facing the event.
The press release read,
“Due to the recent State of Emergency and subsequent curfew just imposed in Western Jamaica as well as inclement weather, we have to regrettably postpone Mobay Crab Festival to June 17 (Father’s Day Weekend). We believe this decision is in the best interest of the safety and security of our beloved patrons and our staff.
For our crab lovers who have still made irreversible arrangements to attend we will still have a small “Crab Market” at the venue selling different styles of crab for purchase between 12-5pm.
Tickets already purchased will still be valid for the new date. If you are unable to attend the event, please return your tickets to outlets.

The festival was scheduled to make its grand return this weekend after a hiatus due to the pandemic. The event featured performances by several prominent entertainers, including Agent Sasco, Govana, Quada, Laa Lee, Gospel singer Jermaine Edwards, and reggae hitmaker Bugle. The day and night celebration, hosted by Elite Conceptz and Solutionz, is designed to be enjoyed by the entire family.
