The reports of a veteran female dancehall artiste being taken into custody by the Jamaican police have caused concern for her fans and management. Janice Fyffe, more popularly known as Lady G, was not only surprised by the reports but has sought to distance herself from them. Despite hailing from Portmore, she currently resides in New Jersey and has had no run-ins with the law, local or international.
According to Lady G’s management, they have received numerous phone calls, text messages and emails expressing concern for her safety and well-being. However, speaking with Prism Marketing Consultants, she clarified that she has no issues with the law and that controversy is not her thing,
“My team brought the report to my attention. It comes as a surprise to me. I have no issue with the law presently; Controversy is not my thing; However, I wish more entertainers would play their part in helping to stem the crime rate in Jamaica and lead the youths on a positive path.” – She stated
The police report states that the accused entertainer has been in custody since Sunday, May 21, on suspicion of breaches of the Firearms Act. During an operation in the Greater Portmore community, a premises occupied by the artiste was searched, and a gun was discovered hidden among items of clothing.
Musically, Lady G has been working assiduously in the studio, adding the final touches to her soon-to-be-released EP titled “Mi Still Dey Ya” amid preparations for an upcoming stint in Europe in the weeks ahead. Despite the ongoing controversies in dancehall, Lady G remains positively focused on her music career and appreciates the continued support from her loyal fanbase globally.
