Patrick Clark, the man accused of the murder of Migos rapper Takeoff, was unexpectedly released from jail on Wednesday after posting a $1 million bond.
This news came as a surprise as Clark had previously attempted to reduce the bond to $300,000, citing a lack of financial means. Initially held on a $2 million bond, his defense team had successfully argued for a reduction to $1 million but later requested it be further reduced to $300,000. Clark’s attorney, Letitia Quinones, had stated at a recent press conference that there was hope for a bond reduction due to Clark’s cooperation with authorities.
However, prosecutors strongly opposed the reduction and Judge Josh Hill of the 232nd District Court ultimately ruled in their favour, citing Clark’s own statements that he could pay a $1 million bail and would use a bail bond company and a family home to offset the bond.
It is believed that Clark was arrested with a large amount of cash and possibly tickets to Mexico, leading prosecutors to suspect he was attempting to flee the jurisdiction.
