On the heels of last Sunday’s emotional Instagram Livestream, where dancehall songstress Shaneil Muir expressed that she was seriously contemplating departing the dancehall industry, it appears the singer has decided to follow through on that decision.
On Wednesday afternoon, via an Instagram post, the Yamabella hitmaker confirmed that she was officially leaving the secular world of dancehall to focus on God’s work. Despite the announcement, she intends to honour all previously contracted engagements before making her complete transition.
The lengthy post read, “I’m not leaving dancehall for Christianity because I have always been a Christian. A sinner yes, but aren’t we all? I’m leaving to do God’s work, to find peace, happiness, salvation, this world cannot offer me that. My reward is not in the hands of men and (Ephesians 6:12) I wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers…”
She continued by affirming her commitment to her faith with no intention of recanting on the decision, stating,
“Because of my secular choices, I have obligations to conclude this chapter of my life. I do not know what tomorrow brings but by God’s grace and mercy I will baptize and rededicate my life to God and no matter how this ship may rock Jesus Christ is the anchor,”
In closing, she thanked everyone who reached out and provided support and encouragement in her time of despair,
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out. Thank you for your encouragements, know that I am grateful. I am in great spirits! I will be a new! JEHOVAH IS IN CONTROL! HE WINS!” – She concluded.
In the weeks ahead, Shaneil is expected to make several appearances in Belize, St Croix, New York, St Thomas, New Jersey, St Lucia, St Marteen, Atlanta and Jamaica.
