The 22nd season of The Voice is about to experience some scorching temperatures, thanks to American popstar Gwen Stefani! Come September 19, Jamaica’s Sean Paul will make his grand entrance on the popular talent showcase after being enlisted by the singer as her celebrity advisor for the new season of the NBC aired competition.
Stefani claimed that although Light My Fire was their first official collaboration, they had known each other “souls” for a very long time prior to working together. The song forms one of the many offerings on Sean Paul’s most recent album, Scorcha, released in May.
Gwen Stefani expressed that she is thrilled to team up with the dancehall superstar, noting her connection to Jamaican music predates even No Doubt’s dancehall-inspired 2001 album, Rock Steady.
Stefani and Paul join a star-studded list of coach-advisor pairings in season 22, including Blake Shelton’s selection of Jimmie Allen, a rising star in the country music scene, to join his team for the Battle Rounds, John Legend’s GRAMMY winner Jazmine Sullivan and new coach Camila Cabello’s choice of friend Charlie Puth to serve as her team’s advisor.
As she returns to “The Voice” this autumn to battle against hubby Shelton for the first time since their marriage and for the first time since Stefani earned her first “Voice” victory with Carter Rubin in season 19, Stefani says she is thrilled to have the Kingston-born hitmaker on her side.
