After wrapping up an assignment at the recently held Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and debuting her new mech line, “ALPHA”, Shenseea continues to break new ground for her career.
In her latest move, the dancehall star has been named music ambassador for the 2022 season of the WNBA team, the Connecticut Sun. The announcement was made via the basketball team’s official website. According to company executives, Shenseea’s song “Sun Comes Up” from her March 11 debut album ALPHA will be used as the audio backdrop for their video opening sequence at the start of all home-based games.
Also celebrating their 20th year in the WNBA franchise, President of the club Jen Rizzotti expressed her delight with the partnership,
“We are very excited to have Shenseea as our music ambassador for the Sun’s 20th Anniversary season! We have been working on ways to use our platform to highlight young artists and bring fans an elevated experience all season long. Having Shenseea work with us is definitely a step in that direction. Her song, “Sun Comes Up,” fits us as an organization perfectly, and I can’t wait for fans to enjoy the song along with us.” she said.
Similar sentiments were echoed by the Jamaican songstress,
“I am especially honoured to be a part of something that supports other strong women, and this collaboration represents everything that I want my music to be—music that empowers and uplifts people,” she intimated.
“Sun Comes Up”, is an inspirational song about persistence and determination in the face of adversity.
