Bronx-based rapper Ice Spice has kindled anticipation among her fans with a tantalizing sneak peek into her latest single, “Gimme A Light.” The artist, known for her bold and unapologetic style, teased a snippet of the forthcoming track accompanied by a visually captivating video clip on Wednesday, May 8th.

In this brief but impactful glimpse via Instagram, Ice Spice takes centre stage as she rides through the streets in the back of a hot pink Range Rover, adorned with a nostalgic “Y2K” license plate, paying homage to her much-anticipated debut studio album. The scene is set ablaze with thick clouds of smoke billowing from the vehicle’s windows, setting the tone for the audacious narrative ahead.

The production behind “Gimme A Light” is attributed to Ice Spice’s in-house producer, RIOTUSA, whose deft touch breathes new life into the track. With masterful finesse, RIOTUSA skillfully reimagines elements of Sean Paul’s iconic 2002 Grammy award-winning hit “Gimme the Light,” infusing it with a fresh and contemporary vibe that will captivate audiences.

The snippet unveils a seamless fusion of Ice Spice’s signature rap style with the infectious beats of Sean Paul’s chart-topping anthem, creating an irresistible auditory experience. As the “Gimme the Light” sample sets the stage, Ice Spice commands attention with her dynamic delivery, holding a joint in hand as she effortlessly rhymes, “Hotbox in the V like gimme a light!”

Scheduled for release on Friday, May 10th, through 10K Projects and Capitol Records, “Gimme A Light” marks Ice Spice’s highly-anticipated return to the spotlight, following the success of her previous solo endeavour, “Think U The S— (Fart).” Debuting at an impressive No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the track solidified Ice Spice’s position as a rising star in the music industry.

Having recently debuted “Gimme A Light” during her performance at the Coachella festival, Ice Spice continues to build momentum as she gears up for the release of her first full-length album, “Y2K,” slated to drop later this year. Building upon the success of her debut EP, “Like..?,” released in January 2023, which secured a deluxe release last July and reached an impressive No. 15 on the Billboard 200 chart, Ice Spice’s forthcoming album promises to deliver an eclectic mix of bold lyricism and infectious beats.
