Shenseea, the well-known dancehall sensation, is set to make a strong musical statement with her upcoming release, “Hit and Run,” featuring a surprise collaboration with fellow dancehall star Masicka. The excitement surrounding this project has been steadily building, with her teasing fans on TikTok and later offering a sneak peek into the music video and a surprise guest verse. The anticipation reached a crescendo when fans speculated and eventually identified Masicka as the mystery collaborator, intensifying the buzz around the track.
The revelation was made through a snippet from the music video shared by the “Beama” songstress, where a male artist, later confirmed to be Masicka, delivered a verse. This collaboration, orchestrated by producer Stephen’ Di Genius’ McGregor, marks Shenseea’s first dancehall release of the year, a significant juncture in her blooming international career.
Amidst the excitement, Shenseea took a moment to address potential conflict with fellow artist Jada Kingdom. Responding to a fan’s insinuation that she might be attempting to overshadow Jada’s recent music release, Shenseea clarified that “Hit and Run” was initially scheduled to drop the same week as Jada’s song. However, to promote unity within the dancehall culture, Shenseea revealed that she personally delayed the release to allow both artists to thrive independently.
“@monica_tyra ACTUALLY, Hit & Run was supposed to come out same week as Jada’s song. I personally pushed back my release so we can all have our own moment. Stop trying to segregate di culture WEIRDO! Big up all a di artiste dem ina dancehall, including Jada,” – Shenseea wrote.
This transparent and diplomatic response showcases Shenseea’s commitment to fostering collaboration and dismantling unnecessary rivalries within the music industry.
“Hit and Run“, released under the Rich Immigrants/ Interscope Records imprint, is slated for debut this Friday, January 26, via her official YouTube channel and other digital platforms.
