The unveiling of the new year has found Dancehall crooner Dexta Daps still in the gift-giving mood as he prepares to release his sophomore album later this month.
The project, a 16-track set titled “Trilogy,” will be officially released on all major digital and streaming platforms on Friday, January 12, 2024, coinciding with his 38th birthday.
Chronicling the upcoming event, Dexta Daps, via his official Instagram account, wrote, “BLESSINGS PAN BLESSINGS PAN BLESSINGS! 😅 SANTA DAPS WILL BE DELIVERING 16 TRACKS ON JAN 12 🎁 ANYONE YOU’D LIKE TO HEAR FEATURED ON THE ALBUM? DROP NAME(S) IN THE COMMENTS. HAPPY HOLIDAYZZZZ.”
Although the tracklist has not been revealed, fans have been sharing their opinions on who they want to see featured on the project. Among the notable mentions are Rihanna, Burna Boy, Bugle, Bounty Killer, Shaneil Muir, D’Yani, Tems, Jada Kingdom, Stalk Ashley, Ikaya, and Lila Ike.
This upcoming release follows the success of his 2020 effort, “Vent,” which spent three weeks at number one on the US Billboard Reggae Albums chart. “Vent” featured collaborations with notable artists such as Beenie Man, Chronic Law, and Spice.
Last year, after concluding his “Dexta Daps Live in the UK! – The Trilogy Tour” with performances in London, Manchester, and Birmingham, Dexta Daps joined forces with Davido on the track “Bop.” The collaboration debuted on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs Chart and peaked at the number 22 position. “Bop” is featured on Davido’s fourth studio album, “Timeless.“
This joint effort with Davido marks Dexta Daps’ first entry on the Billboard US Afrobeats Song Chart. With his album “Trilogy” on the horizon and his recent success on the charts, the Jamaican dancehall star is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
