As we approach the 66th iteration of the renowned Grammy Awards, dedicated Grammy voters are rigorously assessing submissions in a staggering 88 out of the 94 Grammy categories. Meanwhile, the remaining six categories rely on specialized committees to discern the deserving nominees.
This announcement holds particular significance for the vibrant music community of Jamaica. Notably, the “Best Reggae Album” category has received a total of 65 submissions, representing a slight reduction from the 67 submissions received in the preceding year and a substantial decrease from the 125 submissions received two years ago.
Come Friday, only five submissions within this category will secure a place as official nominees, a development that has spurred fervent discussions among music enthusiasts. Prominent contenders include Beenie Man’s “Simma” and Buju Banton’s “Born For Greatness.”
