The respected France Music Certification organization, SNEP, officially declared the track a Diamond record, making the announcement via their Instagram page. This recognition came as ‘Last Last‘ achieved a remarkable 50 million streams in France, cementing its status as a global hit.
In celebration of this phenomenal achievement, the African giant took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, sharing an image of the official cover art and the caption, “#ITOLDTHEM.”
‘Last Last’ was originally released in 2022 as one of the lead singles from Burna Boy’s Grammy-nominated sixth album, ‘Love, Damini.’ The song, which delves into themes of heartbreak, has garnered acclaim for its exceptional production, infectious melody, and skilful use of Nigerian colloquialism.
This achievement further underscores the song’s excellence, as it earned a Grammy nomination in the World Music category and performed admirably on the charts, notably in France, where it peaked at No.23. ‘Last Last’ joins Burna Boy’s impressive list of accolades, with his previous hit, ‘Gbona,’ receiving a Platinum plaque in France, and ‘Alone‘ achieving Gold certification.
