Jamaican music icon Orville “Shaggy” Burrell will be honoured alongside six other distinguished Jamaicans at the 61st Independence Anniversary Gala in New York next month.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Proud and Strong,” recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to various fields.
The esteemed honorees include Stephen Facey, Dr. Rosemarie Ingleton, Marc Jerome, Marlon Lindsay, Sheryl Lee Ralph OJ, and Ruel Stephenson, who have excelled in their respective areas of expertise these include business, medicine, education, entertainment, and law enforcement.
Scheduled for Saturday, August 19, the highly anticipated event will be graced by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who will deliver a special address. PM Holness enthusiastically congratulated each honoree for their unwavering commitment, talent, and dedication that have brought immense pride to Jamaica and impacted numerous lives.
This celebration will be a testament to the extraordinary achievements of these remarkable Jamaicans, highlighting their positive influence and significant contributions to their communities and beyond.
