The Bridgeport Police Department (BPD) has apprehended Derrick Francis, the main suspect in the murder of Brianna Destiny McKoy, daughter of renowned Jamaican sound system operator Ricky Trooper.
Francis, 40 years old, was arrested in Ohio and is expected to be extradited to Connecticut, where he will be charged with McKoy’s murder.
McKoy, found dead on April 6, was shot in the Coachlight Square condominium complex, where she lived with her infant, who was unharmed. The police had launched a manhunt for Francis following the discovery of the slaying. The authorities had declared Francis to be armed and dangerous.
Prism Marketing Consultants understands that, prior to the murder, the police had responded to incidents involving the couple. Francis was reportedly dating McKoy and is believed to be responsible for her killing.
Francis’ bond has been set at USD 3 million. The police have not yet provided any further details about the case.
