Jamaican recording artiste, Darrio Johnson, more popularly known as Darrio, has released his new EP, Reggae With Love, which features five tracks of unreleased lover’s rock from his growing catalogue.
This EP is Darrio’s second since making his mark as a dancehall voice in 2010. He was inspired to create the project after recording his track, ‘My Girl,’ which he considers a poignant addition to his oeuvre.
“Reggae music is love,” says Darrio. “Everything about reggae just feels good. It’s more a lifestyle than a genre, and I’m connected to that lifestyle.” Darrio doesn’t want to be pigeonholed as a specific reggae or dancehall artiste but instead sees himself as an all-rounder willing to dabble in any aspect of the art form, depending on the inspiration.
Reggae With Love features a blend of producers, including Jerone Battick, Kalonji D’aguillar, Joshu Samuels, Shane Green, Luewin Thomas, and Kenroy Mullings. Darrio hopes his fans will appreciate the project, which he considers a well-produced, clean lovers rock compilation that focuses on a theme that most people can relate to – Love.
When speaking about the project, Darrio expressed his gratitude to his team, saying, “A lot of work went into this project, so I have to definitely thank my whole team. We wanted a project with soul, and I think we delivered. Now it’s up to the fans to listen for themselves with an interest in appreciating good music.”
Darrio plans to promote Reggae With Love internationally, starting with his European tour this spring, with possible dates in Africa this summer. Darrio has been carving his own niche in the music industry by delving more into the reggae sound with live band performances with his Fyah Force band, an arm of his Fyah Force Entertainment Label, who served as executive producers for the EP.
