“The Weeknd“, given name Abel Tesfaye, who has been dominating the music charts, is now set to make his acting debut in an upcoming untitled film. He will star alongside Jenna Ortega of “Wednesday” and Barry Keoghan of “The Banshees of Inisherin,” as reported by Deadline.
Tesfaye co-wrote the script with his producing partner Reza Fahim. The film’s director will be Trey Edward Shults, known for his work on “Waves” and “It Comes At Night.” Plot details are under wraps, but the film is already in production.
An exclusive report by Deadline revealed that The Weeknd has been secretly working on the film for months. Ortega and Keoghan joined the project after being impressed by the script. The film’s score will be overseen by composer and producer Oneohtrix Point Never, who previously worked with The Weeknd on the score for “Uncut Gems.“
In addition to his upcoming acting gig, The Weeknd is also making waves in the music industry. He recently became the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify. He released a remix of his hit song “Die For You” with Ariana Grande, which garnered over 23.2 million streams in just one week.
As Tesfaye ventures into the film industry, his music career shows no signs of slowing down.
