Embattled dancehall star Popcaan currently locked in a looming legal battle with Solid Agency chief Sharon Burke has shifted his focus for the new year.
On Tuesday evening, the entertainer unveiled what appears to be the official cover art for his forthcoming album “Great Is He”. The grayscaled image depicts the Unruly Boss attired in a pinned stripe suit complimented with an 18th-century feathered bicorn military hat in a bronzed framed mirror. The artwork is superimposed with his name and album title in black and bronze text.
Captioning the Instagram post, the deejay wrote, “New year, new Gear, new blessings, new money, new music! #GIHE”
Popcaan has been hinting at the album for over a year (August 2021) but provided no further details until last February, when he revealed the name.
“Great Is He” comes almost eight years after his debut album “Where We Come From“, which peaked at No.2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. His sophomore effort, “Forever”, released in July 2018, shared a similar fate regarding its placement on the abovementioned chart but also debuted at No.171 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Speaking of accomplishments, late last year, Popcaan was pleasantly surprised with an announcement that his 2015 collaborative hit “I Know There’s Gonna Be” (Good Times), featuring embattled American rapper Young Thug and British producer and disc jock Jamie xx, was certified platinum in Canada.
Featured on Jamie xx’s 2015 debut album In Colour, the single secured the certification issued by Music Canada based on conflated sales and streaming data, resulting in over 80,000 units moved.
