Dancehall icon Beenie Man has found himself at a pivotal crossroads after injuring his leg in a recent bike accident.
Booked to appear at a concert in Grenada over the festive season, the entertainer was ordered by his doctor to forego the event and instead go home and rest, considering he’s at great risk of losing his foot.
According to Dr Amorali, the deejay’s orthopaedic surgeon, Beenie Man suffered an injury to his right ankle and, following a thorough examination, recommends that he stays home, rest and elevate his foot; otherwise, he increases the risk of a possible amputation. The doctor also urged the artiste not to travel, especially for any long distances, with emphasis on air travel.
Realising the severity of the situation, Beenie Man explained that he got a “sprain and a cut” on his ankle and “took it for a joke”, subsequently travelling to the U.K. and Israel, which worsened the problem.
“In order for my foot to get better, I have to rest… big big disappointment to all my fans and well-wishers to all the promoters; this is circumstances beyond my control. I don’t want to lose the foot; I rather keep it, so thank you, doc and thank you for understanding.” – the dancehall king concluded in a video posting.
Meanwhile, the “Sim Simma” deejay, along with compatriot Bounty Killer, will be honoured for their musical contributions at next Wednesday’s (December 28) inaugural staging of the MECA Awards at the Marketplace Entertainment Centre for the Arts (MECA); they will both receive Lifetime Achievement Awards.
