The family of late reggae singer Fantan Mojah has announced funeral arrangements for the beloved artiste, following his passing earlier this month.
Fantan Mojah, born Owen Moncrieffe, died at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston on July 14, 2026, after complications related to a heart condition. He was 49 years old. His death prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans, fellow musicians and members of the reggae community, many of whom have celebrated his contribution to roots reggae and conscious music.
According to the family, a wake will be held on Wednesday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m. at Rebel T HQ, 52 Dumbarton Avenue, Kingston 10. His funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the University Chapel on the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.
Since his passing, Fantan Mojah’s music has seen renewed attention, with fans revisiting his catalogue and celebrating his legacy as a powerful voice in reggae music. His 2016 album Soul Rasta and several of his songs have re-entered international reggae charts, underscoring the lasting impact of his work.
With funeral arrangements now confirmed, family, friends, colleagues and supporters are expected to gather over two days to honour and celebrate the life and legacy of one of reggae’s most respected voices.
