Accomplished Jamaican music producer Tarik “Rvssian” Johnston has reached another career milestone after PONGO, his collaboration with Puerto Rican superstar Rauw Alejandro and Nigerian Afrobeats icon Wizkid, became his first entry on Billboard’s Hot Latin Rhythm Songs chart. Now in its ninth week, the record has surged from No. 22 to No. 14 while simultaneously climbing and re-entering multiple Billboard Latin rankings, further cementing Rvssian’s status as one of Jamaica’s most influential global music producers.
The latest Billboard update also sees PONGO re-enter the Hot Latin Songs chart at No. 38, becoming the Head Concussion Records and Rich Immigrants boss’s eighth career entry on the prestigious ranking. Meanwhile, the single edged up from No. 47 to No. 46 on Latin Airplay, where it previously peaked at No. 41 in May, marking Rvssian’s fifth appearance on the chart. On Latin Rhythm Airplay, the crossover anthem climbed from No. 13 to No. 11 in its 16th week, becoming his sixth entry on that tally and continuing its steady rise across Latin radio.
Released in March through Sony Music Entertainment US Latin and Head Concussion Records, PONGO has steadily built momentum since its debut, blending Latin, Afrobeats and Caribbean influences into a globally appealing sound. The track first entered Spain’s Spotify Daily Top Songs chart at No. 88 and has since attracted millions of listeners worldwide, while its official music video has amassed more than 7.5 million YouTube views in just two months. The collaboration follows the international success of Santa, Rvssian’s previous hit with Rauw Alejandro and Ayra Starr, reinforcing his reputation for producing cross-cultural records that resonate across multiple markets.
For Rvssian, the latest chart achievements represent more than another successful release. They reflect his continued evolution from one of Jamaica’s most sought-after producers into a recognised international recording artist and curator of global collaborations. His highest-charting entry on Hot Latin Songs remains Krippy Kush, featuring Farruko, Nicki Minaj, Bad Bunny and 21 Savage, which peaked at No. 5 in 2017, while Nostálgico reached No. 9 on Latin Airplay in 2021. With PONGO continuing to gain ground across Billboard’s Latin charts, the Jamaican hitmaker appears well positioned to add another major international success to an already impressive catalogue.
