Reggae firebrand Yaksta is not finished with The Microphone Saved Me, revealing that a 19-track deluxe edition featuring four additional songs is already in development while teasing that three versions of the album exist, with “more surprises to come”.
The Jamaican entertainer shared the update during The Yakocustics – The Microphone Saved Me Album Jam Session at D’Luxe Restaurant and Lounge on Caledonia Avenue in St Andrew, where he celebrated the project with fans in an intimate acoustic setting. “The deluxe will have 19 songs on it, so four more,” Yaksta revealed. “There are three versions of this album, so more surprises to come.”
The Microphone Saved Me is one of Yaksta’s most personal projects to date, reflecting his journey, growth and evolving artistry. Rather than relying heavily on established names, the reggae-dancehall artiste deliberately used the album to spotlight lesser-known talent, including rising artiste The Gideon on the track Life. “This one is more personal,” Yaksta explained. “It’s more of unknowns, more like unknown artistes, because I’m pushing up my own thing now.”
Yaksta said the response to the album has surpassed his expectations, despite some of its lyrical content sparking debate among listeners. “The reaction, to be honest, is good. It is more than what we expect,” he said, adding that the project has already brought changes to his career, public support and standing within the music industry.
With four additional songs confirmed for the deluxe edition and the mystery surrounding the album’s three versions still unfolding, Yaksta appears determined to keep The Microphone Saved Me era alive. For now, the artiste is keeping the remaining details under wraps, leaving fans to wait for the “more surprises” he says are still to come.
