Jamaican crooner Yaksta is stepping into a defining chapter of his musical journey with the launch of his ambitious Roar Tour, a year-long international campaign designed to take his sound beyond familiar borders and introduce his artistry to audiences across South America, England and North America. The tour follows the rising impact of his acclaimed album The Microphone Saved Me, while Yaksta continues to strengthen his bond with fans at home through the expansion of his Yakocustics concert series across Jamaica.
The international trek was announced during The Yakocustics – The Microphone Saved Me Album Jam Session at D’Luxe Restaurant and Lounge on Caledonia Avenue in St Andrew. Backed by the Skallawags Band, Yaksta said the tour will introduce him to territories that are largely new to his career and will feature a combination of fan favourites and some of the more personal material from his catalogue. “To be honest, the zones that I’m going to perform in now are really new zones for myself,” he said. “But, one thing I can tell you about the Roar Tour, it is more fierce. It’s more truth-driven.”
The move comes as Yaksta enjoys growing momentum from The Microphone Saved Me, a deeply personal project that he says has already shifted the trajectory of his career. The artiste admitted that the public response has surpassed his expectations, despite some of the album’s lyrics sparking debate. “From me drop this album, a lot of things have changed, career-wise, support-wise, even industry-wise,” he said. Rather than relying heavily on established collaborators, Yaksta also used the project to spotlight lesser-known talent, including rising artiste The Gideon on the track Life.
However, even as the Roar Tour expands Yaksta’s reach internationally, the Jamaican entertainer says his local supporters will remain part of the journey. His newly launched Yakocustics series is intended to keep him active on the island, with Montego Bay being targeted for the next instalment and plans to gradually take the intimate concert experience to parishes across Jamaica. With an ambitious international tour ahead and The Microphone Saved Me driving a new phase of his career, Yaksta appears ready to turn his latest momentum into his biggest global push yet.
