Reggae Land Organisers Explain Why Masicka Was Not Added to the Same Line-Up With Vybz Kartel or Beenie Man

When Reggae Land announced its expansion to three days, social media lit up. Why was Nigerian superstar Burna Boy leading a reggae festival? Why wasn’t Masicka placed alongside Vybz Kartel and Beenie Man on the main weekend roster? Now, organisers of Reggae Land have addressed the contractual realities behind the move, confirming that the newly added Friday, July 31 is not a reshuffle — but a strategic expansion designed to elevate what is already the UK’s largest reggae festival.

Set for August 1–2 at The National Bowl in Milton Keynes, the original weekend was already locked in, with contracts finalised months in advance. According to organisers, adding another major headliner to Saturday or Sunday would have disrupted existing agreements. The solution? Introduce an entirely new opening day. That Friday now boasts a heavyweight bill featuring Burna Boy, Masicka, Christopher Martin and Grammy-winning Julian Marley — a move that broadens the festival’s sonic reach while keeping its Caribbean roots intact.

Meanwhile, the weekend line-up remains one of the most stacked in UK reggae history. Saturday will see dancehall legend Beenie Man share headline status with Morgan Heritage for a special performance dubbed The King & The Royals, alongside stalwarts such as Tarrus Riley and Konshens. Sunday belongs to Vybz Kartel, supported by global names including Shenseea and Shaggy. Across seven stages, the festival blends roots reggae, modern dancehall and sound system culture, reinforcing Britain’s deep ties to Caribbean music.

The debate, however, has only amplified interest. Burna Boy’s inclusion signals reggae’s evolving global dialogue with Afrobeats, while Masicka’s Friday placement ensures he still commands a prime spotlight rather than being absorbed into an already crowded weekend. The expansion marks a milestone moment for Reggae Land, positioning 2026 as its boldest and most culturally expansive edition yet. As anticipation builds, one thing is clear: this summer in Milton Keynes will be anything but ordinary.
