Shaggy is gearing up for one of the biggest years of his career, announcing his first album in six years while juggling high-profile performances, global appearances, and a surprising new move into musical theatre. The Grammy-winning dancehall icon is set to drop Lottery in March 2026 — a hybrid, emotionally charged project featuring Sting, Robin Thicke, Akon, Jeremiah and Anthony Hamilton. From Miami’s Art Week to the Macy’s Day Parade and an upcoming charity concert for Jamaica, Shaggy’s visibility is sky-high as he prepares to remind the world why he remains one of reggae’s most versatile hit-makers.

The Boombastic star previewed tracks from Lottery during a fiery performance at BitBasel in Miami, telling fans and press that the project blends dancehall energy with soulful storytelling. “You can dance to it, you can cry to it, you can get ready to it… you can make love to it,” he said, describing the record as a genre-defying “Shaggy sound” led by his trademark fusion style. Known for challenging convention, he doubled down on that ethos: “I don’t like cookie cutting… hybrids are what I’m into. I’m the king of hybrids.”

Shaggy’s non-stop schedule hasn’t slowed him down. He recently turned heads at the Macy’s Day Parade on the Jennie-O Big Turkey Spectacular float — even if he underestimated New York’s winter winds. Laughing about the moment, he admitted he “should have worn long johns,” but still delivered a picture-perfect appearance. Meanwhile, he’s preparing to take the stage at the Jamaica Strong benefit concert, supporting Hurricane Melissa recovery efforts back home.

However, the biggest twist in Shaggy’s 2025 run comes next summer, when he joins longtime collaborator Sting in The Last Ship at the Metropolitan Opera House. The role marks Shaggy’s first major theatre performance, with the star revealing that Sting pushed him into the challenge. “He has a way of seeing things in me that I don’t even see,” Shaggy shared, calling the British musician “the brother I never knew I needed.”

With a new album on the way, international stages calling, and fresh creative risks ahead, Shaggy’s next chapter looks bold, unexpected and brilliantly aligned with his legacy as one of Caribbean music’s most adventurous storytellers.
