Dancehall star Mavado has made his long-anticipated return to Jamaica for the first time in eight years, sparking excitement across the island and online. The “Gully Gad,” whose real name is David Brooks, landed in Kingston late Tuesday night after departing from Miami, Florida. Within moments of touching down, he was seen sharing laughs and coconut jelly with locals before heading to a private meeting at the S Hotel alongside Government Ministers Delano Seiveright and Senator Abka Fitz-Henley.

Mavado’s return marks a significant moment for fans and the wider entertainment fraternity, as the artist has lived overseas since 2017. Social media erupted with photos and clips showing the dancehall heavyweight back on home soil, including moments at the Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston. He was joined by his team and was later celebrated by his daughter, Skye Diamond, who posted heartfelt messages welcoming her father home.

While Mavado has yet to make an official statement about his visit, insiders say his arrival may signal more than just a personal trip. Industry chatter suggests discussions are underway for a major live show in Jamaica before year-end — his first local performance in years. The star’s reemergence follows a string of successful international shows in which he reaffirmed his dominance as one of dancehall’s most powerful live performers.

For fans, this homecoming represents more than nostalgia — it’s a possible new chapter for one of Jamaica’s most enduring voices in dancehall. Whether for business, music, or both, Mavado’s return to the island has set the stage for something big.
