Reigning queen of the dancehall, Spice, has shattered yet another glass ceiling, becoming the first Jamaican female artiste to have a lead song surpass 300 million streams on Spotify. Her global hit “Go Down Deh” featuring Shaggy and Sean Paul has now amassed 300,376,338 streams, earning certifications across the UK, France, and Canada, while also being eligible for gold certification in the United States. The landmark achievement not only cements her as a trailblazer but also underscores her unrivalled staying power in a genre where female artists have historically struggled to claim equal recognition.

As of August 24, 2025, the Top 5 most-streamed Jamaican female artistes (Lead Singles) on Spotify are:

  1. Spice – Go Down Deh (feat. Sean Paul & Shaggy) – 300,376,338 streams
  2. Sister Nancy – Bam Bam – 230,207,075 streams
  3. Koffee – Toast – 205,383,109 streams
  4. Dawn Penn – You Don’t Love Me (No, No, No) – 161,464,964 streams
  5. Spice – So Mi Like It – 108,359,365 streams

This streaming milestone comes on the heels of another historic victory for Spice earlier this month. On August 4, she became the first Jamaican to receive U.S. sales certification under the newly launched Luminate and A2IM independent music program. Her Grammy-nominated debut album 10 has now sold over 140,000 units in the United States, including 21,000 in pure album sales — the highest for any dancehall artist in the past decade. “This isn’t just a win for me — it’s a win for every woman in dancehall who was ever told she couldn’t,” Spice previously shared, speaking to the larger cultural impact of her success.

With more than 408 million global Spotify streams, 10 is also the most-streamed and sold dancehall album of the last five years and the highest-performing by a Jamaican woman in over two decades. It not only delivered her groundbreaking Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album but also reinforced her standing as the only Jamaican female dancehall artist to top the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, while holding the record for the most Billboard entries by a Jamaican woman to date.

By August 2025, Spice had achieved what few in her field have ever imagined: back-to-back historic milestones that elevate both her career and the visibility of women in dancehall. Her dominance across streaming platforms, international charts, and certification bodies signals more than personal victory — it is a rewriting of the narrative for female dancehall artists worldwide.
