Respected entertainment journalist and ONStage TV host Winford Williams is recovering in hospital after a serious two-vehicle accident in Montego Bay on Sunday morning, July 20, shortly after covering the 2025 staging of Reggae Sumfest. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. as Williams and two team members were returning to the Grand Palladium Hotel from the festival’s Catherine Hall venue when their black Audi Q5 collided with a JUTA bus heading in the opposite direction.
Williams reportedly sustained a broken clavicle and remains hospitalised and under observation. The other occupants of the Audi, including a relative and a colleague, also survived the crash. The condition of the JUTA bus driver and the three injured passengers—all of whom were transported to Cornwall Regional Hospital—has not yet been confirmed, leaving many anxious for further updates.
In an official statement, Winford thanked the public for the overwhelming support and addressed rumours about the severity of the crash. “While some of the images circulating may appear frightening or even gruesome, thankfully, the actual injuries sustained by those of us in the vehicle were not life-threatening. By God’s grace, the situation is not as severe as some posts have suggested,” he said.
His son and fellow broadcaster Jason Williams, visibly shaken, shared his thoughts in a separate statement to Prism Marketing Consultants, saying, “Looking at the scene of the accident, the outcome could be so much more grim. I’m thankful that my Dad, cousin, and co-worker are all alive and that Winford is expected to make a full recovery… Keep Winford and the team in your prayers.”
