Jamaican dancehall star Chronic Law is mounting a fresh challenge to the US federal firearm case that has kept him in custody, with his legal team seeking to have evidence recovered during a November 2025 traffic stop excluded from trial. The application could significantly weaken the prosecution’s case if the court rules in the defence’s favour, marking a new chapter in the entertainer’s ongoing legal battle in Georgia.

Attorney Ana Davide is arguing that police violated Chronic Law’s rights under the Fourth Amendment of the US Constitution, which protects against unreasonable searches and seizures. In documents filed with the court, the defence questions the circumstances under which officers searched the entertainer’s vehicle, arguing that the legal grounds for the search were not established when the weapons were allegedly discovered.

According to transcripts of the officers’ body-camera footage cited in the filing, Chronic Law, whose given name is Ackeme Campbell, was travelling with a woman when they were stopped by Turner County authorities on 15 November 2025. Police reportedly began an inventory search of the vehicle in preparation for having it towed. During the search, officers allegedly discovered four firearms and 92 rounds of ammunition. One of the weapons was reportedly stolen in Florida.

The defence is placing particular emphasis on the timing of a police dog’s arrival. Davide argues that the firearms were discovered before the K9 unit reportedly alerted, an alert that police could rely on to establish probable cause under the circumstances. She is asking the court to suppress the evidence and has requested an evidentiary hearing to challenge the legality of the search. Turner County authorities previously declined a request for the footage, citing the ongoing court proceedings. At the time of the latest report, prosecutors had not responded to the new filing.

The motion follows unsuccessful attempts to secure Campbell’s release on bail. The entertainer remains in US Marshals custody as he awaits trial. If the court excludes critical evidence, the prosecution could face significant challenges in pursuing the firearm charge. However, the filing does not automatically dismiss the case, and the court has yet to determine whether the contested evidence will be admitted. The outcome of the suppression motion could prove pivotal in the next stage of Chronic Law’s US legal battle.
