Dancehall artiste Silk Boss is turning his latest U.S. breakthrough into fresh music, joining forces with award-winning New York-based producer CJTheChemist for his first collaboration since arriving in the United States for a series of concerts. The resulting single, “Mery Macka,” was released on Friday, August 7, with its official video following on Saturday, August 8, marking another step in the Jamaican entertainer’s growing international push.
According to CJTheChemist, the connection was facilitated by Ping of Abroad Records, who manages Silk Boss and had been reaching out to the producer for some time before the collaboration finally came together. The song itself was inspired by Silk Boss’ arrival in the U.S., with CJTheChemist explaining that “Mery Macka” was conceived as a celebration of the new market exposure and opportunities created by the artiste’s concert stint.
For CJTheChemist, the project also represents his first collaboration with Silk Boss. The producer said he had always recognised the entertainer’s talent and praised his approach in the studio, describing him as a quick songwriter who brings good energy to the creative process. The collaboration comes weeks after Silk Boss secured his U.S. work permit, a development that opened the door for him to pursue bookings across the North American market and build on his international ambitions.
Meanwhile, Silk Boss has continued to release new material as he expands his presence beyond Jamaica. His recent single “Eyes Opened”, produced by Sponge Music, generated additional attention after its official video premiered in June and entered Jamaica’s YouTube Music Chart. With “Mery Macka” now accompanied by an official visual, the artiste has another release positioned to connect his U.S. concert activity with his music campaign.
CJTheChemist is also maintaining momentum with his own production work and is currently promoting Shaneil Muir’s “Gypsy,” which has surpassed 1.3 million YouTube views approximately three months after its release. “Mery Macka” is being distributed by Dubshots, giving the Silk Boss collaboration another piece of infrastructure behind its international rollout. As the artiste continues to capitalise on his U.S. exposure, the collaboration with CJTheChemist could prove to be an early indicator of how Silk Boss intends to translate his North American opportunities into music and wider career growth.
