Keznamdi’s campaign to defend public access to Jamaica’s beaches is producing an unexpected musical aftershock, with his Grammy-winning sophomore album BLXXD & FYAH and 2017 EP Skyline Vol. 1 both surging into the U.S. iTunes Top 100 Reggae Albums Chart following the Best Documentary nomination for Beach Inna Bondage: The Fight for Jamaica’s Coastline at the 2026 Caribbean Film Awards. Skyline Vol. 1 delivered the biggest leap, climbing 91 places to No. 9, while BLXXD & FYAH jumped 89 places to No. 11. Both projects had previously been outside the Top 100.

The surge comes as renewed attention surrounds Beach Inna Bondage, Keznamdi’s documentary collaboration with the Jamaica Beach Birthright Environmental Movement (JaBBEM). Directed by Emiel Martens and Elsie Vermeer in collaboration with JaBBEM and Keznamdi, the film examines the grassroots campaign for public access to Jamaica’s coastline, using activism, music and storytelling to amplify the voices of communities seeking to protect the island’s beaches and cultural heritage. The project’s Best Documentary nomination at the inaugural Caribbean Film Awards has now added another layer of visibility to the campaign, with the ceremony scheduled for October 10 at Theatre N in Wilmington, Delaware.

Much of Keznamdi’s music can be heard throughout the documentary, creating a direct link between his artistic catalogue and the wider conversation surrounding Jamaica’s beaches. That connection appears to have helped reignite interest in two very different stages of his career. Skyline Vol. 1, released on April 21, 2017, is an eight-track reggae EP that features Chronixx on “Victory” and explores themes of love, spirituality, perseverance, culture and personal growth. The project captures the melodic, roots-conscious sound that helped establish Keznamdi as a distinctive voice within Jamaica’s emerging reggae generation.

Meanwhile, BLXXD & FYAH, released on August 22, 2025, represents the more mature and socially conscious direction of Keznamdi’s artistry. The album blends reggae consciousness with Pan-African identity, spirituality and commentary on social pressure, featuring collaborations with Kelissa, Mavado, Marlon Asher and Masicka. It previously debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Albums Chart and earned Keznamdi his first Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album before winning the category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2026. Its return to the Top 100 alongside Skyline Vol. 1 underscores the renewed attention surrounding an artist whose music, activism and cultural identity are increasingly intersecting on the global stage.

With Beach Inna Bondage now competing for Caribbean Film Awards honours and Keznamdi’s catalogue experiencing a fresh chart resurgence, the reggae artiste’s message about Jamaica’s coastline is reaching audiences through more than one medium. The film’s October awards appearance could provide another major moment for both the documentary and the music powering its message.
