Dancehall icon Rodney “Bounty Killer” Price is set to receive one of Kingston’s highest civic honours on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, when the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) officially renames Wenchman Road as Rodney Price Drive and presents the deejay with the Key to the City.
The ceremony follows a resolution passed by the KSAMC in April recognising the legendary entertainer’s outstanding contribution to Jamaican music, culture and community development. The renaming of the roadway marks a historic milestone, permanently embedding the “Poor People Governor’s” legacy into the capital city’s landscape.
Ahead of the official unveiling, Bounty Killer shared his excitement with fans via his official Instagram account. Posting a video snippet from the upcoming event preparations, the dancehall legend captioned the post: “The key moment is almost here folks comes tmrw ceremony.”
The announcement was quickly met with an outpouring of congratulatory messages from fellow entertainers and music industry figures. Among those celebrating the milestone was acclaimed producer Don Corleon, who commented, “Congratulations General.” Long-time friend, promoter and close associate Galdiez also shared his support, writing, “Long deserve.” Fellow Alliance member Bling Dawg added, “Good energy good vibes,” while numerous other fans, colleagues and supporters praised the recognition as a fitting tribute to one of dancehall’s most influential figures.
The official street naming and key presentation represent the culmination of months of anticipation since the KSAMC approved the resolution in April. With Rodney Price Drive set to replace the long-standing Wenchman Road, the ceremony will further cement Bounty Killer’s legacy as not only a pioneering dancehall artiste but also a cultural leader whose influence has transcended music and inspired generations both in Jamaica and across the world.
