Dancehall star Spice has transformed her recent trip to Uganda into far more than a musical showcase after donating US$10,000 (Shs 37 million) towards rhino conservation efforts and pledging to channel part of her concert proceeds into wildlife protection initiatives. The reigning Queen of Dancehall made the contribution during her widely publicised cultural and tourism tour of the East African nation, instantly earning praise from fans and conservation supporters across social media.

The entertainer participated in conservation activities linked to Uganda’s rhino translocation programme while using her international platform to spotlight the country’s tourism industry and endangered wildlife preservation efforts. The move quickly sparked online conversation, with many applauding Spice for leveraging her celebrity influence to support a cause rarely associated with dancehall culture. Her involvement added another layer to what had already become one of the most talked-about celebrity visits to Uganda in recent years.

Meanwhile, Spice’s stay in Uganda evolved into a major cultural moment that extended well beyond music. The artiste immersed herself in local traditions, visited tourism hotspots and received the Kiganda name “Nankula” during a symbolic cultural ceremony. Her interactions with fans, tourism officials and cultural representatives further strengthened the growing connection between Africa and the Caribbean, with many supporters describing the visit as a positive example of cultural diplomacy through entertainment.

The visit has also generated significant international attention for Uganda’s tourism campaign, particularly among Caribbean and diaspora audiences online. With Spice continuing to trend across entertainment blogs and social platforms following the donation, many observers believe the trip could open the door for more collaborations between African tourism bodies and Caribbean entertainers in the future.
