A new chapter in reggae’s evolution is unfolding as Runkus gears up to release SUPERNOVA, a genre-blending project that fuses roots reggae, dancehall, and experimental soundscapes. The forthcoming album, featuring contributions from Sean Paul and the iconic voice of Peter Tosh, positions Runkus as one of the most forward-thinking creatives in modern Jamaican music, bridging generations while redefining sonic boundaries.
Known for his avant-garde approach, Runkus has spent the past decade building a multi-dimensional career as an artist, producer, and composer. His résumé includes a MOBO Award for his work on Being Poor Is Expensive, alongside nominations for Grammy, Juno, and Ivor Novello honours. However, SUPERNOVA signals a deeper artistic pivot. Drawing inspiration from collaborations that merged music and visual art, he recently linked with Bahamian artist Tavares Strachan, a MacArthur Genius Prize recipient, to craft a project that exists beyond traditional audio formats.
